Canadian Dental Software Privacy Questions

Review Canadian dental software privacy questions on data flows, suppliers, access, retention and export with qualified practice advisers.

At a glance

Canadian dental software privacy evaluation begins with the practice’s applicable obligations and the actual flow of information. Identify where data is stored, who can access it and which suppliers process it. A hosting-country statement alone does not complete the assessment.

Current product stage

The private prototype supports saved patient profiles, scheduling, visit statuses and recall tracking. Clinical, billing, insurance, messaging and website integrations described in our roadmap are not yet available for clinical use.

Map the information flow

List the application, attachments, imaging, messages, backups and support tools. Ask where each is processed and who operates it. Include remote support and subcontractors rather than only the primary database. Record the purpose and necessity of each transfer.

Use the relevant official guidance

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner provides guidance for businesses on federal private-sector privacy obligations. Provincial and health-information requirements may also need review for a specific practice. Have qualified advisers identify the applicable rules rather than relying on a general product label.

Request operational and contractual evidence

Review access controls, audit history, incident handling, retention, return and deletion arrangements. Ask how patients’ requests are handled and how suppliers assist the practice. Document answers and limitations before a production implementation.

Our current position

The prototype is for fictional records only. Canadian-only data residency, a completed clinical privacy assessment and production compliance are not claimed. The separate website privacy page explains how this public site handles product enquiries and Flor conversations.
